2018年文化勲章受章者である陶芸家・𫝆井政之(1930-)は、竹原市に窯を構え、東広島市西条の陶土を用いながら制作を続けています。本展では土の表現におもきをおき、身近にある自然や素材を作品に取り入れ新たな表現へと果敢に挑んできた作家の作陶人生を辿りながら、長年培ってきた独自の美意識に迫ります。
Masayuki Imai (1930-) is a ceramic artist who was awarded the 2018 Order of Culture. He set up his kiln in Takehara City in Hiroshima Prefecture, and continues to produce works using clay from Saijo in Higashihiroshima City. This exhibition emphasizes expressions of clay. Here you can follow the ceramics making life of an artist who adopted nearby nature and materials into his work and boldly attempted new expressions. You can also see up close the unique aesthetics that the artist cultivated over many years.

本展では、広島県女性総合センター「エソール広島」の開館に合わせて、2020年文化勲章受章者である広島ゆかりの作家・奥田小由女(1936-)が、女性の飛躍を象徴とする作品として1989年に制作した大型レリーフ《天翔あまかける賛歌さんか》を、当館コレクションと併せて展示します。
In accordance with the opening of the Women’s Association of Hiroshima Prefecture “Essor Hiroshima,” this exhibition will display the large-scale relief <<Amakakeru Sanka (Soaring Hymn)>> at the same time. This relief was created by Sayume Okuda in 1989 as a work that symbolizes women’s rapid progress. Sayume Okuda is an artist associated with Hiroshima who was awarded the 2020 Order of Culture.

本展では、絵画、書、彫刻、工芸、写真、デザイン、6種目の芸術分野に加えて今回から新たにジュニア部門を創設し、広く市民の方々から美術作品を公募し展覧します。
This exhibition will newly establish a junior category, in addition to six art fields of painting, calligraphy, sculptures, industrial art, photography and design to display a wide collection of artwork which the museum collected from citizens of Higashihiroshima.
