当館コレクションの中心である版画と陶芸作品を特集展示し、細部の美しさに着目。「版で魅せる」では版画の制作過程で生み出された版木や原版を中心として、「暮らしと器 西洋と日本で」では暮らしの文化に息づく器の美をご紹介します。
Festuring prints and ceramics, the core of our collection, this exhibition highlights the beauty found in fine
detalls. “The Captivating Art of Blocks and Plate” focuses on woodblocks and original plates created in the printmaking process, while “Daily Life and Vessels: The West and Japan introduces the beauty of vessels that lives on in the culture of everyday life.

本展では特別展 「堀尾幸男 舞台美術展」 に関連して、舞台を構成する要 素から「光」「音」「衣装」をキーワードに展示するとともに、舞台美術が 空間を変容させるように、素材や表現の変化によって異なる イメージを生み出す作品をご 覧いただきます。
In conjunction with the special exhibition “Yukio Horio Scenography,” this exhibition highlights the key elements of stage design- “light,” “sound,” and “costume.” Visitors will experience works that create distinctive imagery through transformations in materials and expression, just as stage design transforms space.

舞台美術家として第一線で活躍する堀尾幸男(1946-／広島市出身)は、オペラをはじめ、野田秀樹主宰のNODA・MAPや三谷幸喜の舞台作品、中島みゆきの「夜会」、立川志の輔の「志の輔らくご」など700公演以上を手掛けてきました。舞台模型や制作資料を中心に展覧し、舞台美術の世界に迫ります。本展に向けて堀尾が子どもたちのためにデザインした、1/1スケールの壮大な宇宙空間は必見です。
A leading stage designer, Yukio Horio (born in 1946; Hiroshima City), has worked on more than 700 productions, including operas, NODA MAP led by Hideki Noda, stage productions by Koki Mitani, Miyuki Nakajima’s “Yakai,” and “Shinosuke Rakugo” by Shinosuke Tatekawa. Focusing on stage models and production materials, the exhibition offers a closer look into the world of stage design. A must-see highlight is Horio’s spectacular, full-scale (1:1) cosmic space, designed especially for children for this exhibition.

美術館の眼前にある西条中央公園 (Park) に点在する屋外彫刻、そして当館の特徴で あり「内」と「外」 をつなぐ 「窓」。それらを起点に、公園をめぐる様々なテーマから厳選し た当館コレクションと、東広島在住の素描 家・shunshunの作品を交えて展示します。
Outdoor sculptures dotted throughout the park directly in front of the museum, and “windows,” the distinctive feature of the museum that connects the “inside” and “outside.” Starting from these, this exhibition presents selected works from our collection on themes related to parks, together with works by shunshun, Higashihiroshima-based line drawing artist.

池田満寿夫 (1934-1997) は版画家として国際的に評価され、作陶や文芸、映画製作など多彩に活躍し ました。本展では、近年新収蔵 となった版画や制作資料に、作家アトリエに遺された陶芸作品 を交えて、池田満寿夫の世界を 特集展示します。
Masuo Ikeda (1934-1997) gained international acclaim as a printmaker and was also active in ceramics, literature, and filmmaking. This exhibition features recently acquired prints and production materials, together with ceramic works on loan from other institutions that showcase Ikeda’s creative world.

The Higashihiroshima City Art Exhibition displays a wide collection of artwork which the museum collected from citizens of Higashihiroshima. These works are in six art fields of painting, calligraphy, sculptures, industrial art, photography and design. 累計1000万部を超え、今なお愛される「だるまさん」シリーズを手がけた絵本作家・かがくいひろし(1955-2009)。没後初となる本展では、全16作品の絵本原画や制作資料、特別支援学校の教員時代の貴重な記録から、子どもたちを笑顔にするかがくいひろしの世界を紹介します。
book artist who created the “Daruma-san” series, which has sold more than 10 million copies and is still beloved today. This first exhibition since his passing introduces Kagakui’s world through original artwork and production materials from all 16 of his picture books, along with precious records from his years as a special education school teacher.
